FringeNYC Review - Strange Attractor - Combatting Skepticism

The cheese-y hokum that's at the heart of Marco Frezza's Strange Attractor is what makes this illusionist's show so, well, gosh darn appealing. Frezza frames his sixty minute performance with a cute gimmick about needing to save the world by ridding it of its skepticism, and by the end of his performance, don’t be surprised if you find yourself believing in Frezza's abilities.
In "Attractor," Frezza performs a wide variety of standard-fare illusions. He reads the mind of one audience member, pulling, out of thin air, the three digit number of which the theatergoer has been thinking. There are card tricks, and an impressive recreation of an illusion performed by Houdini. Throughout, Frezza punctuates his feats with triumphant whoops that can make it seem as if one's watching a good friend simply showing off. It's this level of personalization that ultimately makes "Attractor" the winning attraction it is.
